Last Resort is RIDICULOUS! (Spoilers)
The new military based drama on ABC called Last Resort has some of the most ridiculous things happening in it. Things that I can’t ignore as a rational human being. The plot of the show itself, the premise, is not bad. A nuclear submarine called the Colorado is ordered to fire nuclear missiles at Pakistan through a secondary communications channel. Rather than go along with their orders they question why the main channel of communication wasn’t used, only to then be fired upon by another US Navy vessel.
Now the submarine and it’s crew have gone rogue, worried for their safety and wanting to know the truth about the attack, they hole up on a small tropical island where they now claim control. BUT In order to do that, and have America take them seriously they have a stand off with some bomber jets by launching a nuke at America and saying they’ll let it land unless they call the bombers off. They let the thing explode in the ocean 200 miles east of Washington DC.
At this point, one of the main actors, the captain of the ship says “At that distance no one will be hurt”… WHAT?! Did I hear you right? The most dangerous weapon that we’ve ever created as a people, the thing that still strikes fear in the hearts of men today, and that many thing needs to be abolished, won’t hurt anyone in the ocean? How do you know?
Could have hit a cruise ship, or a freighter or any number of things and potentially killed 100s of people. Not only that but radiation fall out is an issue. You’ve ruined the east coast fishing economy… great job!
This guy is a tool and to do that and everyone on the crew is like “ok at least it wasn’t on land” are morons.
